Life Legacy


Ruby Frances Connor Ledbetter, 85, of Boiling Springs, died on Friday, December 3, 2011 at Kings Mountain Hospice House.

Ruby was a much beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. She loved her family and she loved God. She will be truly missed by all that knew her.

She was born on May 22, 1926 in Cleveland County to D.H. and Abi Harrill Connor. She attended school in Bellwood and Hickory and graduated from Gardner-Webb College in 1945. She played the organ, taught Sunday School and lead WMU at Flint Hill Baptist Church and was a member of Bread and Roses Extension Club and the Sorosis Club until her health began to fail. She worked at Cone Mills in Cliffside and taught at Boiling Springs Elementary School until her retirement.

She is preceded in death by her husband, J. Durham Ledbetter, Sr., in November 1990 and was his caregiver until his death. They enjoyed the many friends they made at Oak Island, NC and sitting on the beach and eating seafood.

She is survived by her five children, Judy Ledbetter Faircloth and husband Norman of High Point, NC, James D. Ledbetter and wife Jane of Boiling Springs, NC, Larry Dean Ledbetter of Boiling Springs, NC, David W. Ledbetter and wife LeeAnn of Concord, NC, and Elaine Ledbetter Fite and husband Robert of Boiling Springs, NC. Also surviving her are eleven grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren.

The family requests that you join them for visitation and a Celebration of Her Life at Flint Hill Baptist Church, 2207 Flint Hill Church Road, Shelby, NC 28152 on Monday, December 5, 2011. The visitation will be held from 1:00pm - 2:00pm and the Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00pm. The burial will follow at 10:00am on Tuesday, December 6, 2011 at Cleveland Memorial Park. The Rev. Shane Kirby and Rev. Keith Dixon will officiate the services.
