Ellenboro, Mr. James Vernon (Dutch) Allen, 98, of 193 Ellenboro/Henrietta Rd. Died Friday August 22,2008 at his residence. A native of Rutherford County he was a son of the late James Vernon and Olia Daniel Allen. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Ruby Katherine Harrill Allen.He was a retired Railroad clerk for Seaboard Coastline Railroad, and a member of Bethel Baptist Church, where he coached softball, taught Sunday School, and was a R.A. Leader. He is survived by three sons; Alvin Allen of Spindale, George Allen of Forest City, James Allen of Ellenboro, seven daughters; Nancy Frady of Granite Falls, Judy Allen of Ellenboro, Deanna Dills of Sylva, Brenda McEntire of Rutherfordton, Sara Sheppard of Bostic, Hannah Jolley of Bostic, , Kathy Houser of Cliffside. Twenty one grandchildren, thirty Great Grandchildren, and four great great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 4:00P.M. Sunday August 24,2008 at Bethel Baptist Church with Rev. Alvin Allen and Rev. Frank Hoyle officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held 6:00-8:00 P.M. Saturday August 23,2008 at McKinney-Landreth Funeral.
